"...I met Vanessa Beecroft in February 2006 in South Sudan. I was filming a documentary on
landmines left after Africa’s longest running civil war. She had been drawn initially to Sudan
with a need to understand the Darfur situation, and was beginning the process of adopting the
twins she’d been breastfeeding at the local orphanage..">CLICK HERE for the rest

Interview with Angie Fielder, Producer 'Crossbow' and 'I Love Sarah Jane'
AFFP: What is 'Crossbow' about?
Crossbow explores the theme of adolescent sexuality set against a dark suburban milieu. It is the story of a
neglected boy who yearns for love. The protagonists in the 3 films I have made in 2007/2008 are all
young boys aged between 8 and 15. The films all explore many different themes, but each one touches
on the theme of love, albeit in very different ways.
AFFP: What is your background as a filmmaker?
I studied film at university, and spent a number of years working for film festivals and running a high
profile Australian Film Awards event called the Inside Film Awards. I have made a handful of short films
and have also produced TV.
AFFP: Have you been to Sundance before?
No, unfortunately !
AFFP: What is your next project?
I am currently in post production on another short film titled 'Netherland Dwarf', which is being directed by
David Michod, who also directed 'Crossbow'. It's a beautifully melancholy Father and son story, and it
features some very cute rabbits!

The Duplass Brothers' Sundance film 'Baghead':
The Duplass Brothers explore the minutiae of relationship dynamics in this in-depth
study of a group of desperate actor friends. And a bag. And a head.
AFFP: Is there a common thread between the films you've been involved with?
Making fun of ourselves and our friends on film in (what is hopefully) an honest and
caring manner.
AFFP: What is your background as a filmmaker?
We both did some film school at the University of Texas, and made a lot of bad
referential films in the 90s in Austin TX, until we accidentally discovered that making
fun of ourselves worked a lot better than trying to be the coen brothers.
AFFP: Have you been to Sundance before?
Yes, we’ve had 2 short films there in 2003 and 2004, and our first feature THE PUFFY
CHAIR was there in 2005
AFFP: What is your next project?
We are not sure about that, but we have a few projects in the works with Fox
Searchlight, Universal, and WAM films.

Brett Wagner's CHIEF
Sundance '08
BRETT: Semu Fatutoa drives a taxi in Honolulu, Hawaii. Once he was a village Chief in the island nation of Samoa, but
tragedy compelled him to cover his tattoos and flee his home. Now he drives in circles, slowly forgetting his old life. But
his old life is looking for him. And a young Hawaiian girl, separated from her family on the eve of a disastrous day,
desperately needs his help.
AFFP: What is your background as a filmmaker?
BW: I attended graduate film school at NYU, then went off and made a low-budget feature film called FIVE YEARS,
which played 30 festivals around the world from 2002-2004. In the interim, I relocated to Hawaii, where I have been
directing TV commercials and other projects, while putting CHIEF together.
AFFP: What is your next project?
BW: I'm writing a screenplay adaptation of a nonfiction book for Terrence Malick's production company, to be directed by
Paul Atkins. I'm also in the finals of the FILMAKA competition, competing with 35 other finalists around the world for a $5
million feature film contract.

Controversial Duth Filmmaker and friend of the AFFP Theo Van Gogh directed the
Dutch version of 'Blind Date' before his tragic death in 2004. Stanley Tucci stars and
directs the remake of his film, co-starring Patricia Clarkson, premiering at this year's
Sundance Film Festival. In 2002 Theo was cast in Brent Roske's (AFFP President)
film 'Wheatfield with Crows' about his great grandfather Vincent, co-starring David
Carradine. The production of the film was delayed, and then Theo was shockingly
murdered by a religious fundamentalist angry of his portrayal of Islam in one of his
films. CLICK HERE for the interview with 'Blind Date's producer Bruce Weiss

"...70 years after the builders of the bomb created a national information security system
and just a few years after 9/11, a government secrecy crisis is looming. The combination
of a declared war on terrorism and the curtailment of civil liberties sets the stage to ask
some critical questions. When does security erode, rather than enhance, democracy?
Can burying too much information actually undermine national security?..." Click Here
